Frequently Asked Questions

An open mind is the most powerful tool the artist has

Physical Process - the sculptures seen here are made using oxygen/acetylene gas or arc welding (GMAW or stick), of mostly steel materials. Found objects and every-day observations are combined to form a unique, three dimensional output. The steel rod, linear sculptures are created using 3/32" mild steel rod. Materials and ideas are gathered from anywhere they can be found. Other metal working tools such as angle grinders and drills are used to finish or shape the metal.

In 2004, I began operating a small foundry, melting aluminum, and using the ancient technique of "sand casting" to create forms that wouldn't be possible using direct welding.

Photographic Process -
most of the images of the sculptural work presented here were taken with a digital camera, entered into the computer, and have been "cleaned up" using a graphics editor. This means that shadows, wrinkles in cloth backdrops, blemishes in backgrounds and the like were eliminated using computer techniques.
However, NONE of the artwork or actual sculpture has been digitally altered.
