The Free Art Project - piece #5

The Free Art Project - 2007

Premise:
"The Free Art Project - 2007" is a street art show in which 100 of my art works will be covertly abandoned in public locations. The Project is concentrated in Eugene, Oregon, where I was born and currently live, though a few will be scattered much wider through various means. These art works are intended to be taken and kept by passers-by. The Project is both a gift to my community, and an intentional method of removing the commercial aspect usually involved in offering my artwork for other people to own; a form of positive vandalism, perhaps. The Project will last for 1 year until completed (open ended timeline), and the final art work placed will be of significant value ($1000 or more), while most others will be valued at $100 - $200.

Guidelines:
• The recipient of the art must be unknown to Jud (no direct giving of the art)
• All works will be signed and numbered
• The art works will be both 2-dimensional images and 3-dimensional sculptures
• The Project MUST be completed: 100 new works in 1 year, all given away freely

UPDATE August 22, 2007: Due to the enormous volume of regular, fine art work that I am doing or being commissioned to do, The Free Art Project has been modified to lasting longer than 1 year. I don't want to be bound by an artificial timeline and make sub-standard work, so the Project will continue until 100 pieces have been placed. See the NEWS section to see why I've been so busy.

I will occasionally update this page with examples of free Art works and current number of drops made.

As of May 22, 2007: 22 pieces of free Art have been covertly placed around the community
a few samples... Many more coming soon - watch in April/May !!.

more to come...
